From the Archives: the George Kalinsky Collection

The Muhammad Ali Center's permanent collection relies on generous donations made by people from all walks of life. We have received items from faraway fans, sportswriters, artists, visitors to our museum, friends and family of Ali's, and beyond. Each item donated to the Muhammad Ali Center assists in carrying on our mission of mobilizing Muhammad Ali's legacy to foster respect, inspire generations of changemakers, and advance social justice.

Few people experienced Muhammad Ali's boxing career like George Kalinsky, award-winning Madison Square Garden photographer and friend to Ali, who was gracious enough to donate a collection of boxing memorabilia he acquired at a few of the boxer's most notable fights. This donation included magazines, posters, press kits, and even some shoe polish--all of which help tell the story of not only Ali's boxing career, but of professional boxing culture in the 1960s and 1970s. From the Archives: the George Kalinsky Collection highlights a few of the Ali Center's favorite pieces from the photographer's donation.
