The Thrilla in Manila: 50 Years After the Final Bell

On October 1, 1975 Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier for the third and final time in the sweltering heat of the Philippines', in what became one of the most brutal fights in the history of boxing. The sport's past is full of dramatic upsets and thrilling victories, but few fights match the anticipation, excitement, and theatrics of the Thrilla in Manila. Ali's rivalry with Smokin' Joe Frazier has often been cited as the greatest in boxing, if not all sports, and their third and final fight solidified this. Each fighter gave their all, but ultimately it was Ali who would become the undisputed victor of their feud.

In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the legendary bout, The Thrilla in Manila: 50 Years After the Final Bell explores the conclusion to the greatest rivalry in boxing through artifacts from the Muhammad Ali Center's collection.
