Rematch Scheduled
Due to the proposed fight's location of Boston, Massachusetts, the promoters and fighters alike needed the cooperation of the W.B.A. in order to bill the fight as a Heavyweight Championship title defense. In spite of their initial objections, an agreement was eventually made to appease the W.B.A.'s wishes. Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston both signed an agreement stating that whover would win the fight would face a top-rated W.B.A. contender within six months of their victory. To ensure this agreement was fulfilled, the W.B.A. would hold $50,000 from the purse of the winner.
With the W.B.A. appeased and both fighters in agreement, the fight was officially set for November 16, 1964, and training could begin.
