The article in the March 1, 1971 issue of Sports Illustrated, titled "The Boxer and the Slugger", discusses Muhammad Ali (the boxer) and Joe Frazier (the slugger) as their first fight of three was coming up on March 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The beginning of one of the best known rivalries in boxing, the article looks at the similarites between the two boxers -- both were Olympic champions and had undefeated records -- as well as their differences -- their styles of boxing and techniques in the ring.
The article also examines other boxing opponents like Marciano-Charles and Dempsey-Tunney.
