From collection Muhammad Ali Center Permanent Collection

Sports Illustrated Magazine, May 5, 1969

Sports Illustrated magazine issue featuring an article about Muhammad Ali, as well as the cover picture. The article examines Ali's boxing style and techniques as they relate to classic boxing styles. It claims that Ali's style is half classic, half insolence. The images in the article illustrate boxing punches, footwork, and more of Ali's moves down to 1/100ths of a second.

Following these illustrated descriptions is a short article by Martin Kane, that begs the question of whether Ali will enter the ring again. It discusses Ali's suspension from boxing by the United States for his conscientious objection to the Vietnam War and his suspension from boxing decreed by the Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad.
