Let My People Go

Muhammad Ali’s compassion for others was not confined by geographical or political borders; it was global and far reaching. His involvement with United Nations exemplified his desire for peace and justice for all, beginning with his first appearance in 1978 to address the Special Committee against Apartheid. He addressed the committee with the following:

“The personality of a person, the ways of a person, the faults, the deeds, the actions, is all based around his heart…If the heart is great, that man remains great under all circumstances, rich or poor, large or small.”

Ali later lent his original artwork to the World Federation of United Nations Associations to produce special prints to sell to support their ongoing educational efforts and was named a U.N. Messenger of Peace in 1998.
